Microbial contamination, most commonly seen as black sludge that forms in fuel tanks, is the reason why filters are blocking, pumps are failing and ultimately why engines are breaking down.
Some types of bacteria to live on the fuel/water interface also produce corrosive acids which cause severe degradation of storage tank coatings and injector
Why now?
With the statutory addition of biofuel to everyday fuel supplies this is rapidly leading to major problems.If you are experiencing running problems, blocked filters or regular breakdowns then this could well be due to contamination in your fuel. This is an issue in all fuels and escalates with the addition of biofuel. Don't ignore it running problems now can lead to injector blockage or engine failure.
