Applying the power of nature

In the same way, other life forms, deemed less welcome in our cosy world, have similarly adapted, for example microbial material such as bacteria, yeast and fungus. Such evolution is not only entirely natural, but critical to the survival of our Earth.

Empowered with ‘superior intellect’ and relative strength, the things we dislike, we do our best to destroy. But, it’s not that simple. Destruction causes imbalance and this leads to other undesirable circumstances. Slowly the reality of our world is becoming more evident to us all. Our drive for conveniences often comes with a disproportionally high price.

Earth’s history reveals adaptation for survival

It is entirely natural but also critical

Man destroys that which we do not like

Destruction comes at a very high price

Doing the ‘right thing’ maintains balance in our World.

PureFuel Technologies (PFT) is a newly established Company, formed especially to expand the use of a proven fuel contamination treatment technology. This expansion is driven by several key market and commercial factors.

PFT technology originated in New Zealand when Colin Wickham (a Certified Marine Engineer, principal of marine consultancy; Wickham Marine Ltd.) was approached by BP to solve a particular recurring fuel contamination problem in a large ocean-going vessel. Colin developed the technology into what, for many years, was known as the FuelMag range of products. ‘FuelMags’ are widely used in the marine industry in tugs, ferries, ocean vessels, private yachts, as well as several land transport diesel applications in trucking, private vehicles, locomotives and construction site equipment. Over 6,000 units have been supplied and successfully installed since the original unit was installed.

Importantly, as well as being supported from an academic side through analysis of test results from University of Wales, US Maritime Safety Council, CABI, the largest UK Government laboratory and others, FuelMag  technology is well proven in practical applications.

PureFuel Technologies Ltd. is a UK based Company, headquartered in Sudbury, Suffolk. It has recently acquired all Intellectual Property Rights associated with this technology. Importantly, Colin Wickham, the original inventor and design/development engineer remains intimately involved through family connections and as a Consultant Advisor to our technology development going forward.

In order to address major global markets, driven initially through EU and UK all production has been transferred to the UK, where all designs, manufacturing processes and technologies are certified to globally recognised standards.

Ian Roos: Chief Technology Officer

Ian’s role as CTO is to lead the relationship and engineering interfaces to major clients and technology and delivery partners. He is responsible for product evaluation and professional certification. He has spent the past 15 months leading FuelMag™ UK Ltd.
Ian is a qualified Engineer with an international background in the fields of product, risk, solution management and deployment. Additionally Ian has assisted various multi-national telecoms operators to create effective customer support environments.

Ian’s 15 years management experience was gained in various companies in South Africa, United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Colin Wickham; Founder of FuelMag™ Intl. and original designer and developer of product.

Colin’s role as COO is to lead the Engineering Design aspects of the business and to deliver the products, duly certified and of the correct quality standards.

Colin was first to discover the benefit of magnetic effect on microbiological contamination in distillate fuels and oils in 1986 when he was a DnV surveyor in New Zealand. Colin is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institute of Marine Engineers (UK), a member of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and consults as a forensic engineer. Colin was responsible for the original FuelMag™ (and its predecessor’s) design, manufacture and successful deployments.

Simon Chou, Chief Representative, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan

Simon brings more then 30 years Sales and Marketing experience in greater China from time with several Fortune 500 companies, including Ericsson, Accenture, Chungwa Telecoms and EBT. Simon’s previous role was strategic consultant to Henan Torch Oil Bunker Business, Synopec and RailCom responsible for developing a new business infrastructure and strategies to improve the energy supplies to Henan Province and the National Railway Services.

Simon also acts as advisor to the Chairman of the National Trade Union in Henan Province and represents FuelMag™ Ltd as the Chief Representative in the PROC.

For the past 12 months, Rudolf has been Product Engineer and Director Sales for Pacifikstar Ltd., FuelMag™ Master Distributor for Asia Pacific and Middle East.

The Origin of Fuel Mag™

In September 1985 when Colin was New Zealand manager for the international classification society Det norske Veritas, he was carrying out machinery surveys on the New Zealand registered vessel Fetu Moana. During discussions with the Chief Engineer Fred James, we were interrupted by the technical representative for BP Oil (NZ) Ltd, Peter Young.

Another vessel the NZ Caribbean had just suffered a serious power failure as a direct result of microbial contamination of the auxiliary diesel fuel system. Peter was visiting client vessels to find out if they had a similar problem; he was describing the symptoms and treatment when it occurred to me that the problem was not dissimilar to the algae growth in water storage systems, swimming pools and the like.

In 1985, a BP client, the then Auckland Regional Authority, installed a first trial device in the fuel system of a bus. The effect of the unit became noticeable in 2 to 3 weeks. The bus selected was one that was showing signs of contamination and filter blockage. My magnetic unit was installed in the fuel system before the filter. The system was deliberately left dirty to see what would happen.
We found that after a period of time the filters started to unblock and become cleaner. The magnetic unit was actually cleaning the fuel system by causing the bug to reduce to its component size and pass through the filtration system into the engine.
Fuel Mag™ now leads the market in diesel fuel treatment by magnetic induction with many reports of beneficial side effects such as:

* Cleaner combustion equipment
* Improved fuel atomization
* Reduction, even elimination of smoke
* Improved engine performance and increased economy

Whilst these benefits are a bonus the real aim is still to control the diesel bug by a non polluting means, to eliminate the premature blockage of fuel filters and the sudden loss of engine power and to eliminate the corrosive wear associated with the diesel bug.

Recent research by the University of Wales at Bangor in North Wales (UK) and CABI (www.cabi.org), using a Fuel Mag unit in controlled experimentation has confirmed that my claims for Fuel Mag are correct. The results of these tests are now under independent review by Lloyd's Register of Shipping and Lloyd's of London personnel.

The Fuel Mag™ is now being successfully used worldwide. It has achieved international recognition and acclaim and its field of application continues to expand. Standard units now extend over a range from ¼ screwed to 6inch flanged connections. It has, apart from the additional and beneficial side effects proved time and again that it is a serious, effective and cost efficient alternative to chemical dosing of diesel fuel.

With more then 10 000 units installed worldwide, we have a long list of customers prepared to endorse us including some of the major oil companies.
